Hoppy Beer Review

When we arrived at Readington Brewery and Hop Farm, we were incredibly grateful for the warm welcome and generosity shown by their team.

Our journey into the world of beer began with a couple of amazing options: the Local Lager (3.7%) and the Honey Lager (5.4%). The Local Lager was a revelation, offering a refreshing and invigorating crispness, with a subtle sweetness that was delicately balanced by a mild hoppy bitterness that offered a clean finish. The Honey Lager, infused with local honey, was equally impressive, with an added touch of sweetness that created a sumptuous honey finish. Both beers were perfect for sipping and savoring as we took in the landscape of the farm.

We decided to complete our visit with a flight of beers. The flight comprised four 5 oz pours and included Jagr Lager, a Czech Lager, Church Hill, an ESB, 1814, an Irish Dry Stout, and Patriot, an American IPA. We were struck by the sheer variety of beers offered, with each one offering a distinctive and impressive flavor profile that stood out in its category. Our top pick from the flight was Jagr Lager, which delighted our taste buds with its crisp and refreshing Czech flavor.Rows of hop farm plants

Just outside the taproom doors, is a beer enthusiast’s playground.  The Hop Farm has rows and rows of various types of hops growing that they use in their beer. It is a pretty unique sight to see firsthand. They have truly nailed the “Bine to Stein” experience!

Hoppy Beer Info- Hops are an essential ingredient in beer, providing both bitterness and aroma to the finished product. Their unique combination of acids and oils give beer that distinctive flavor and smell. Different hop varieties can be used to create a wide range of beer styles, from the floral and spicy notes of noble hops in pilsners to the citrus and pine flavors of American hops in IPAs. Without hops, beer would lack that unmistakable flavor and aroma, and would not be the beverage it is today.

Food, Entertainment, and Beer-To-Go

Food- Readington Brewery and Hop Farm has several options for food. They welcome guests to bring their own outside food, and guests can also have food delivered to the brewery. They even have helpful boards that display the various local food delivery options, with many diverse cuisine choices. They also host events where food trucks and vendors visit the brewery on-site for their patrons to enjoy. However, if you do end up needing a small snack during your visit, they also have bagged popcorn and/or pretzels available for purchase.Beer-To-Go in a refrigerator cooler

Entertainment- During the week, Readington Brewery and Hop Farm has many fun events, including weekly trivia, family events throughout the year (such as their annual Easter egg hunt), and live music. They have areas set up to host indoor or outdoor live music depending on the weather. In their taproom, they have several big-screen televisions, board games available for play, an oversized Connect-Four board, and an arcade-style Pac-Man game (which is free to play). Outside the taproom, they have two beautiful outdoor seating and dining areas, one with fire pit seating, and another area with picnic tables. They also have lawn games available for patrons to play during their visit.

Beer-To-Go-They offer four-packs to go of some of their best-selling brews. Just inside the taproom’s main entrance doors, they have a large refrigerator cooler that you can’t miss, making a quick beer pick-up extra simple. The also offer crowler fills off the tap system.

Kid-Friendly Taproom

The staff at Readington Brewery and Hop Farm were very kind and accommodating to families, as evidenced by the number of families visiting on the day we went. They excelled at making everyone feel welcome. As we mentioned earlier, outside food is welcome, and they have small snacks available to buy if any little ones get hungry during your visit. We should also mention that the taproom and outdoor grounds are dog-friendly.  Water bowls are provided in and around the facility for customers to use.

Hoppy Parent Tip- They have cream soda on tap if you are looking for a special treat for the kiddos.

Behind the brewery, they have a large, beautiful open area for little ones to run and play. Also located in this area, they have a huge playground equipped with swings, slides, a tire swing, monkey bars, observation towers with telescopes, and various other playground equipment. It is a wonderful structure where children could spend hours of happy play. The playground is also located with great visibility and can be seen from the various other areas on the grounds.

Hoppy Parent Tip- Whether you are dining at the picnic tables, relaxing by the fire pits, or watching the little ones have fun on the playground, they make ordering another round super easy with their walk-up bar takeout window.

And we can’t forget about the GOATS! On the other side of the brewery, adjacent to the rows of hop plants, they have a small pen area where you can visit their adorable goats.  Our boys loved that they had a sign describing each goat by its color and their name. They enjoyed being able to address each goat.

Other Important Family Amenities

Bathrooms- Their bathrooms are very well-kept and clean. There is a changing table location in both men’s and women’s rooms, and they have paper towels for drying instead of a hand dryer, which is helpful for little ones with sensitive ears.

Hoppy Parent Tip- There is a footstool located under the sink to assist little ones with hand washing, which is always a plus for us!

Accessibility- The taproom is spacious and located on a single level with no stairs to climb, making it accessible for both wheelchairs and strollers. The outside grounds are relatively flat as well, not posing any difficulties with maneuvering a wheelchair or stroller.

Parking- At the front of the brewery, they have a large gravel lot with plenty of parking. They also utilize a back grassy area for overflow parking when needed. Both areas are flat and easily accessible.

Complimentary Wi-Fi- The brewery offers complimentary Wi-Fi making ordering food online or accessing other information online much easier.

Our trip to Readington Brewery and Hop Farm was a wonderful experience which we highly recommend to anyone looking for a day of family fun and great craft beer. From the stunning hop farm to the friendly staff and delicious brews, this brewery has everything you need for a perfect outing.
