The farm offers a wide array of fun, family-friendly events and activities from spring to fall. These include the Sunflower Trail, a Fall Festival, and various seasons of pick-your-own fruit opportunities, including blackberries, raspberries, peaches, apples, pumpkins, and, of course, strawberries.
VonThun Farms goes beyond fruit picking to offer a range of activities suitable for children of all ages. For an additional cost of admission, your kids can enjoy seasonal hayrides, encounter friendly farm animals, and run free in the play area. A visit to their farm store will complete the whole farm experience.
Strawberry Picking
We started on a delightfully sweet adventure as we entered the fields of VonThun Farms. With baskets in hand and the sweet aroma of ripe strawberries filling the air, we began our quest to find the juiciest and most delectable strawberries. The well-maintained fields made it easy to navigate the beautiful terrain. Our kiddos were engaged in the wonders of nature as they excitedly plucked each beautiful berry.
Hoppy Parents Tip- Consider wearing sneakers and packing a small backpack with hand wipes and water bottles. Our boys had sticky, dirt-covered fingers and were thirsty during our visit.
Buttzville Brewing Company

Just a stone’s throw away from VonThun Farms, this local brewery is a haven for craft beer enthusiasts like us. Take a moment to relax and unwind as you explore the flavorful brews that await.
Hoppy Beer Review
We began our beer adventure with Bottoms Up, a passion fruit sour (4.3%), and the Wild Rover, a classic Irish Red Ale (4.2%). Bottoms Up has a delightful explosion of tartness and tropical flavor, perfectly balancing the sweetness of the passion fruit with a refreshing sour kick. Wild Rover Irish Red Ale embodies a smooth caramel maltiness, subtle hop bitterness, and a roasted sweetness, resulting in a satisfying and authentic drinking experience.
We wrapped up our day with a Hop To It Pale Ale (5%) and “Fields of Strawberries Forever” (5.2%). Hop To It is a classic Pale Ale with a nice balance of malt and hoppy bitterness, while Fields of Strawberries stole the show with its delightful blend of refreshing wheat notes and the luscious sweetness of ripe strawberries, freshly picked from the VonThun Farms. This crisp and fruity brew is perfect for those warm strawberry-picking days. The brewery has beer-to-go options for those wishing to take some of Buttzville’s Brew home.
Kid-Friendly Taproom
At Buttzville Brewing Company, you can enjoy the best of both worlds with two inviting seating areas designed for your comfort. Stepping inside their taproom, we found a vibrant bar area and taphouse, perfect for savoring their brews. If you prefer the great outdoors, their outdoor beer garden awaits, offering a serene atmosphere to unwind and indulge.
The kind and attentive staff at Buttzville Brewing Company go above and beyond to ensure all guests, especially those with children, have a memorable experience. They have curated a selection of kid-friendly seltzers, allowing little ones to stay refreshed. Additionally, they offer a selection of snacks like bagged party mix and pretzels available for purchase, satisfying hungry bellies. Their taproom has a big-screen television for viewing daily sporting events. They also provide board and card games to enjoy during your visit.
